Nile University is purposefully designed to be technological, practical,
tailored as a service university, to excel in training, educating, mentoring
students, researching, and serving the needs of communities at local,
national, regional and international levels.
The University is founded as a Community based Private University, with the
aim of promoting quality education, academic excellence, professional
practice, and integral growth and development
The history of Nile University dates as far back as 1860’s when St. Daniel
Comboni had a plan of starting a University with four learning centers in
the Equatorial region and along the various coasts of Africa. “A plan of a
re-birth or re-generation of Africa.” His famous slogan was, “Save Africa
with Africans.”
Nile University is West Nile’s 130 year old dream. Nile University is
located in Arua District in the North West of Uganda 5km from Arua on the
Arua – Moyo road
Nile University has three sites: The first one is Ombaci main Campus, the
second one is Uriama site 25kms along Arua Rhino camp road in Uriama
sub-county, Terego county. The third site of Nile Lukuma about 16km from
Arua town on Arua - Rhino camp road and the fourth site is Pajulu 4km south
east of Arua Municipality.
Nile University also operate in the following places: at Abi Zonal
Agricultural Insitute, Ombaci College and Christ the King Primary School.
The administrative liaison offices are housed at Arua catholic center
complex building in Arua Town.
On 27th August 2003 Nile University kicked off with its administration. On
24th September 2003, the first bunch of 57 students entered Nile University
and started with Lectures. All the students of Nile University take
foundation year in English, Mathematics, Computer Studies and Ethics. “Nile
University is meant to be a Practical university” or “hands on University”.
